RECORDS SHATTERED DURING NISSAN TIME TRIALS FOR BORGWARNER SHOOTOUT (8-29-08)
CRANDON, Wisc., – The battle for the 2008 BorgWarner Cup should be fast and furious as new single-lap record times were established in both the PRO 4x4 and PRO 2WD classes during the Nissan Time Trials Friday afternoon at Crandon Raceway.
Former BorgWarner Shootout champions Johnny Greaves and Scott Taylor both laid down impressive times in their respective classes to claim prime starting positions in the big race. Greaves time of 1:22.66 bested the old mark set last year by more than 1.5 seconds. Taylor’s time of 1:25.23 broke a record set back in 2001 by more than a full second and was fourth fastest overall of the 26 entries.
The BorgWarner Shootout is professional off-road racing’s most prestigious event. The 14th running of the race will be held Sunday at the fabled track. The race winner claims the massive and priceless sterling silver and 18-karat gold BorgWarner Cup – an award similar to the famous BorgWarner Indy 500 Trophy®.
