FCP & World Series of Off-Road Racing Extend Partnership
at Oshkosh Race Weekend (7-23-08)

CRANDON, Wisc. -- The relationship between the Forest County Potawatomi Community (FCP) and the World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) sanctioning body is further solidified as the FCP’s Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee, Wisc., has been named the event sponsor for the July 25-26 “Off-Road Nights of Thunder” at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway at the fairgrounds.

The event is officially known as the Potawatomi Casino “Off-Road Nights of Thunder” presented by Traxxas™RC Cars.

The FCP have been long-term advocates of short course off-road racing in Wisconsin and the Midwest and a prime force in professional off-road racing circles for 15 years.

The backing by the FCP has provided record available payback for World Series racers. Every WSORR race weekend offers a posted purse of $100,000 to off-road teams across several classes. WSORR paid out more than $850,000 last season.

The FCP are also a major title sponsor at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway – the premier off-road racing facility in the U.S. That track, along with Bark River International Raceway – are part of the WSORR team. Combined, the two tracks have 71 years of off-road racing history, experience and popularity.

“Off-road racing championships have been won and lost in the Midwest and Wisconsin for nearly four decades,” said Doug Davis, managing general partner, WSORR. “Thanks to the Forest County Potawatomi and many other sponsors, racers, and fans, that continues to be the case and the Midwest is the place to race off-road,” he said.

Davis noted other key sponsors such as Lucas Oil Products, General Tire, Traxxas R/C cars, and United Trailers, among others, have joined with the Forest County Potawatomi and helped energize and grow the World Series.

There are off-road race shops all across the Great Lakes region. “Thanks to the support by the FCP, the Midwest, Crandon Raceway and now the Oshkosh market continues to be where off-road World Champions are crowned,” said Davis.

During the past 15 years, the FCP has invested heavily in Forest County and the State of Wisconsin. The largest employer in Forest County with government operations, health care center, gaming and other business ventures, casino compact payments to the State are projected to top $750 million during the next 25 years.

“We encourage off-road race fans to support those who support the sport, such as the Forest County Potawatomi,” said Davis. He noted one of the country’s most impressive gaming facilities – the newly renovated Potawatomi Casino in downtown Milwaukee – is a high profile destination for gaming excitement. Every ticket sold at the Oshkosh race weekend includes a valuable $10 Potawatomi Play redeemable at the Potawatomi Casino Player’s Club in Milwaukee.

Davis said the Forest County Potawatomi have had a strong influence and presence throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest. “The FCP are winners,” he said. “Whether it is on the track with their off-road or moto-cross teams or with local school districts and other government bodies or charitable organizations, they provide enhancements that benefit all.”
